Cowboys VP Reveals Jerry Jones’ Interest in Kyle Pitts

Kyle Pitts is garnering a lot of interest coming into this year’s draft. The Florida Gators tight end is one of the few non-quarterback prospects who is a favorite to be in the Top-10.

Pitts was one of the most outstanding players in the collegiate football circuit last season. And he has a lot of teams clamoring to get their hands on him. The Dallas Cowboys could be one of those teams, as Jerry Jones is a big fan of Pitts.

Dallas Cowboys Vice-President Stephen Jones addressed the rumors linking the Dallas Cowboys to Kyle Pitts. Jones noted that Pitts is a player who can pose several matchup problems for opposition players.

There are very few players in NFL history that have had his kind of profile. And teams that have had a tight end of Pitts’ profile have benefitted greatly because of it, like the Chiefs, 49ers, and Patriots.

“He’s a unique matchup player. Certainly, if you look at the Chiefs and the 49ers, and the way New England has utilized them over the years, these mismatch tight end players can make a big difference in offensive football.”

Jones added that there wasn’t a member of any coaching staff on any NFL franchise that could picture the trouble Kyle Pitts will give to an opposition player. That is what makes him such an enticing commodity in this year’s draft.

Pitts is a rare player, his likes don’t come by every year. This is why Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is such a fan of his work and made his appreciation very clear.

Stephen, on the other hand, was clever enough to neither confirm nor deny the Cowboys’ interest in Pitts.

“I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who knows football personnel-wise in the NFL, coaches, that can’t see a vision for the problems that a player like Kyle Pitts could present.

“I think he’s a very unique player that doesn’t just come around every year. And certainly, Jerry (Jones) was just acknowledging that.”
