The 2022 offseason had a bunch of crazy blockbuster deals for the top-tier quarterbacks in the league. However, there are certain clubs still wandering for an impactful starting quarterback. Among them, The Detroit Lions from the NFC North lead the list.

With Deshaun Watson grabbing a deal, Rodgers signing an extension, and Russell Wilson exploring his new home, the offseason has amassed a lot of attention from the followers. However, the Lions are still lacking an attractive QB, while Jared Goff is still on the roster.

What does Dan Campbell have to say about the situation?

The head coach of the Detroit Lions happens to be chilled when it comes to searching for a QB. According to him, an elite QB is not necessary to win big in the NFL. “No, I don’t think you need that,” Campbell said Thursday, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “I think that those guys like that are obvious. They’re special and they certainly can give you a better chance. But no, I don’t believe you have to be one of those guys to have sustained success.” he added while speaking to the press.

The reality is that in the current scenario, Campbell has no options other than Jared Goff. Even though Campbell might justify his narrative, history says it all! In the upcoming season, unless luck comes in favor of the team, it would be quite difficult to play against QBs like Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Patrick Mahomes, and many more on the list.

Stafford became the fourth QB in NFL history to throw for over 5000 yards in a single season and the fastest player to reach 40,000 career passing yards.

His first season with the Lions was not an ideal start for a quarterback. He completed 67% of his passes last season but was reluctant to push the ball downfield at times.

Goff was traded by the Los Angeles Rams along with three draft picks in exchange for Matthew Stafford. In his recent interview with the Detroit press, Campbell heaped praises for Goff and mentioned that he liked the way Goff is progressing in his career. Well, the time will show us how much impact he can create in the upcoming season if Goff is confirmed as the starting QB for the Detroit Lions.
