297-Pound Ex-NFL Star Forced to Retire After Only Two Years Shows off Massive Weight Loss as He Continues With a Career in Football

Former NFL linebacker David Pollack has had a rollercoaster of a career. The three-time All-American and former first-round draft pick was set to make big waves in the NFL. After being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals, it seemed Pollack was on his way to making it to the top. Unfortunately, his career as a professional in the league was abruptly cut short.

The linebacker suffered from a neck injury. The result of this injury was a broken cervical vertebra. This occurred during his second game of the 2006 season against divisional rivals, the Cleveland Browns.

Pollack, who was around 297 pounds when he was in the league, is almost unrecognizable today. Because of his injury, the linebacker began to lose weight. After an early retirement in 2008, Pollack made the jump to broadcasting. The former linebacker has worked with CBS and ESPN.

Pollack’s journey with regard to the weight loss he’s experienced has been quite astonishing. In conversation with ‘Men’s Journal’ Pollack revealed that the journey has been a process and involved simplifying his diet.

Pollack mentioned that he is particularly aware of what goes into his body and he does not consume food that is processed. “I look at stuff that has more than four ingredients and I’m not interested in it. It took a while to evolve and grow,” he said.

Pollack also works out, although his packed travel schedule requires making adjustments. He said, “I do a lot of bodyweight stuff, finding weight rooms when I can.” 

Pollack stated that he does a lot of pull-ups, push-ups, and sit-ups. He carries pull-up straps when he is on the road. That allows him to strap them on to doors and finish his pull-ups. Pollack also stated that he runs at least a mile a day.

The career-ending injury Pollack endured has not kept him from being in his best shape and living to the fullest.
