Aaron Rodgers has found a new home. After months of relentless back and forth, the Green Bay Packers officially waved goodbye to one of their greatest QBs in history. While Aaron Rodgers’ departure from the Packers paved the way for a renewed hope for the New York Jets fans, not everyone in Green Bay is missing the four-time MVP.
With Rodgers and the Jets weighing their future carefully, there are talks of Aaron Rodgers taking a Tom Brady-esque approach. While the Jets’ front office certainly appreciates Rodgers’ commitment, a pivotal Green Bay figure had some brutally honest words to share.

Consistency is Key
Green Bay Packers are in a tricky situation. With Aaron Rodgers aligning with the New York Jets, the Packers have placed all their trust in Jordan Love. It was inevitable that Love would take over from Rodgers, but his back-to-back MVP seasons might have just delayed the process. Now that Rodgers is out of the way, the Packers are depending on their young guns to lead the charge.

In addition to Aaron Rodgers, the Packers also lost their genius of an offensive coordinator in Nathaniel Hackett. Hackett walked away from the team in 2019, even though many expected that wasn’t the downfall of the Green Bay franchise. Just a year back, the Packers were one of the best offensive teams in the league, with Rodgers at the helm. However, the defense wasn’t their strongest suit, and with Rodgers having left the team, defensive coordinator Joe Barry had a few words to share.
“You mentioned (Rodgers) and his honors. It really doesn’t matter on our side of the ball, the defensive side of the ball. That’s the thing that we’ve got to do week in and week out, We’ve got to show up and play our best version of football, our best version of defense. We can’t be up one week and down the next. We’ve got to find that consistency and show up every single week,” expressed Barry, as per Madison. com.
During his final tenure with the Packers, Aaron Rodgers had to repeatedly make up for defensive slip-ups, but that was simply not enough. The team eventually fell to the Lions in a playoff-clinching game and the rest is history.

However, Rodgers wants to do things differently with the Jets, and maybe the franchise has already figured out the problem.
Jets getting help
Changes are underway in New York. Since moving on from the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers is expected to make some chunky sacrifices. Reports of A-Rod settling down for a restructured contract have been doing the rounds. And if these reports do turn out to be true, then Rodgers’ renewed contract could help the Jets in terms of cap space going into the season. The Jets are apparently looking to move Rodgers’ 58.3-million-dollar bonus to next year, earning him $1.165 million this season.

However, the New York Jets would rid themselves of an inherited $15.8 million cap charge. By pushing the option, Rodgers’ 2024 salary would skyrocket to $107.55 million but the cap space would be fairly manageable. With their current contracts, the Jets’ front office can also pursue draft picks and free agents, but hopefully, Rodgers’ restructured contract would put the Jets in a position to sign relevant talent and emerge as contenders again.
