As per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, “According to the team side and Dak Prescott’s agent, the report is definitely not true. The two sides have never discussed such scenarios or anything like it. Dak wants a shorter deal, the Dallas Cowboys want a longer one. July 15 is the deadline.”

The tweet in response to a story claiming that the quarterback turned down the most lucrative deal in NFL. As per Chris Simms, the 26-year-old turned down a mega-money 5-year deal worth $175 million. This was because he was seeking a payday “north of $45 million” in his final season.

Prescott is sturdy and reliable. He made the most of regular starter Tony Romo’s injury and claimed the lead role with both hands. The 26-year-old is yet to miss a regular-season game in his 4 seasons with the team. Prescott has played out his rookie contract but will remain at the AT&T Stadium for 2020 as he has a franchise tag.

It is speculated that the quarterback wants shorter deals as he feels he can negotiate for one final big payday as he reaches his 30s. Cowboys on their part are going for a longer deal as he remains tied to them for a while before they need to bump his pay yet again.

Cowboys fans will be hoping that the team and star quarterback come to an agreement quickly. This is because at 26 he is only maturing and last season he finished 2nd in the league in passing yards (4,902). Also, he threw 30 touchdowns along with 3 more while rushing.
