Chiefs debate: Superstar or No 1 wide receiver for 20-0 season?
During a recent discussion, there was an argument that the Chiefs don’t need to add a superstar wide receiver to their roster to win the Super Bowl. Instead, he believes the team needs a No 1 wide receiver to go 20-0. Longtime Chiefs Fan Nick Wright pointed out that the Chiefs heavily rely on Kelce, who is 33 years old and the oldest productive pass catcher in football by a mile.

Nick Wright: Paying Lamar Jackson is the only solution
The discussion also touched on the situation with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Nick also expressed his belief that the Ravens have alienated Lamar Jackson by not giving him the money he deserves, saying, “The Ravens decided to do it differently and have alienated him and there’s no solving it except for by giving him all the money and they’ve decided not to give him any of the money.” Giving him all the money is the only solution, per Nick Wright.

He pointed out that teams often give their quarterbacks big contracts after three years to avoid alienating them, and that the Ravens have gone about things differently.
Lastly, while the Chiefs don’t necessarily need a superstar wide receiver to win the Super Bowl, adding a No 1 wide receiver would provide much-needed depth and talent to the position. And, as the Ravens have shown, failing to compensate a star quarterback properly can lead to significant problems down the road.
