Deshaun Watson joined the Texans in 2017. While there, he created a name for himself on the football field before blowing it all up. He then left Houston in 2022 after a year out of the NFL due to the controversies surrounding him. But one person stayed with him through everything. His girlfriend Jilly Anais.

During quarantine in 2020, Anais, who is a YouTuber by profession, featured Watson in one of her videos to answer questions about their relationship. In the video, titled ‘How I Met My Boyfriend’, Watson and Anais opened up about many aspects of their relationship.

QB Deshaun Watson Creates Quite an Impression During Practice With Cleveland Browns

Watson met Anais during a trip to Los Angeles. A few days after their initial contact, the then-Texans QB texted Anais on Instagram with a photo of the YouTuber and her grandmother at the Malibu winery. And they talked about the energy that Anais’ grandmother showed. And that was the start of their relationship, which has withstood many storms over the past year and a half. 

After their conversation through text, the duo met for a workout date. They then went out for dinner, after which they knew it was official.

When Watson got hit by sexual misconduct charges in 2021, Anais stood by him and saw through the storm. And now the NFL was ready for his comeback, surely Anais would be there for him during that jubilant moment.

The clouds of controversy 

Deshaun Watson’s world turned upside down when in 2021, a number of women came forward to allege sexual misconduct. He faced a total of 24 civil lawsuits at one point. Coupled with that, he also faced an investigation into the matter by the Houston Police and the NFL. Due to the charges against him, Watson did not feature for the Texans for the entirety of this season.

A Texas grand jury cleared Watson of the criminal charges and he settled most of the civil lawsuits. But the damage was already done. In August 2022, a disciplinary officer appointed by the NFL found Watson guilty of violating the league’s personal conduct rules and suspended him for six league games. By that time, the Texans had already traded him to the Browns. The punishment got upgraded later in August to an 11-game suspension and a $5 million fine.

Watson will look for redemption when he takes the field for the struggling Broncos in Week 13. How far can he take them this season?
