Jacksonville Jaguars dominated the first quarter of their season opener against Indianapolis Colts. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the first overall draftee by the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL draft, has stamped his authority by forming a far connection with the team’s wide receiver. 

With around 8 minutes left in the first quarter, Lawrence fired his accurate pass to Calvin Ridley, who didn’t miss out on the connection despite his absence from the league for two years.

Calvin Ridley forming a long connection

Tackling through the harrowing defense of the Colts, quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw a 24-yard precision pass to WR Calvin Ridley, who flawlessly received the bullet-like ball. Explaining the jaw-dropping moment “Lawrence fires and the catch is made by Calvin Ridley” says a commentator.

After the end of the first quarter, the Jaguars led the game by 7-0. However, it was until the second quarter of the game that the score equaled 7-7 for both teams. 

As the game progresses, both teams are desperate to clinch their first victory of the season. Whereas the Jaguars are the favorites to win the game, the Colts are showing equal prowess to influence the odds in their favor. 

Calvin Ridley’s absence 

Ridley’s has been synonymous with the word “Rusty”. After being suspended in 2022 for being involved in betting, Ridley is making a comeback at the gridiron after 2 years. Apart from all the controversies surrounding him, the WR was successful in lodging his name in the league’s top-tier quarterbacks. 

Marking his authority in the first game after his suspension, Ridley has successfully abolished the adjective rusty attached to his name.
