However, it is a rare sight to see a prospect facing adversity. USC OL Andrew Vorhees was on the unfortunate side as he suffered an injury while at the showcase. But the fans laud him for setting an example.

Andrew Vorhees entered the NFL Combine with hopes of becoming a future star. The USC OL was a solid prospect until adversity took over. The former Trojan sustained a torn ACL while performing the drills. As per sources from ESPN, it is a ‘clean tear,’ and Vorhees would miss his rookie year.

Andrew Vorhees was an inspiration at the 2023 NFL Combine

The torn ACL did not stop Andrew Vorhees from setting a record at the NFL Combine. He entered limping and was on crutches. But Vorhees went on to do the 225-pound bench press and performed 38 reps, a Combine high. The draft prospect performed it all with one healthy leg.

It is unusual to see an athlete suffering an injury at the NFL Combine. But it could be a disaster since the injury might impact the athlete’s overall draft position as it could push him down. But one can not question his toughness and determination for the game. An ACL tear wears the athlete down, but it drove Andrew Vorhees to do better.

Andrew Vorhees is a 6-foot-6, 325 pounds from the University of Southern California. As a Trojan, he clutched the Morris trophy; an award given to the PAC 12’s top offensive linemen, in the preceding season. The OL is also an AP First Team All-American and competed in Guard and tackle positions.
