The NFL announced some good news that might make Eminem proud. The 2024 NFL draft has been awarded to Detroit. It is a big day for the football fans from Michigan. The Detroit Lions beat the likes of the Washington Commanders and the Green Bay Packers for the honor. 

Hosting the draft is a proud moment for any city. It feels like a festival taking place over the span of three days. The Motor City has been on fire recently. Despite their poor performance in the regular season, they have been very active in the offseason. The Detroit Lions announced that they will be the featured club in HBO’s docu-series, Hard Knocks during the 2022 training camp. A few hours later, the news about hosting the draft broke.

The NFL draft is one of the biggest football events of the year. Maybe second to only the Super Bowl. The draft makes and breaks the franchises. The dreams of many young athletes are fulfilled on this magical night. So hosting the draft is among one of the greatest honors in the NFL. The Detroit Lions are glad to be a part of it.

“The draft has become a prominent offseason event across the country, and we are excited to work with the Lions and their partners to bring the 2024 NFL Draft to the Motor City,” said commissioner Roger Goodell in his statement. “With the help of Visit Detroit, the Detroit Sports Commission, and the City of Detroit, the Lions’ passionate fan base and all visitors will be treated to an incredible three-day experience.”

The Lions beat the Packers, and the Commanders to get this honor. The draft this year will be held in Raiders country, Las Vegas. Next year’s draft will take place in Kansas City. 

Hard Knocks to feature the Lions

HBO Sports and NFL Films are working together to make a new docu-series. They have decided to feature the Detroit Lions. Hard Knocks will chronicle the Detroit Lions’ 2022 training camp. The Lions did not have the best of seasons last year. They lost 13 games. They were on an 11 game losing streak and didn’t get their first win till Week 13.
