“Didn’t Wanna Ever Feel That Depression”: Rob Gronkowski Breaks Silence on the Dark Side of Being a Patriot

The four-time Super Bowl winner, Rob Gronkowski, is, without a doubt, one of the best tight ends in the league. He played for most of his career in a team that has won the most Super Bowl titles as well. Therefore, fans can safely assume that playing for such a powerhouse took special dedication and passion for the sport. Recently, Gronk gave an interview where he revealed what actually went on in the squad. And after listening to it, it felt like playing with the New England Patriots gave him some hardships.

If one wanted to play for the Patriots, one needed to be sure to give their best in all the games. Their six Super Bowl trophies from 2001 to 2008 proved that New England was not to mess with. And since they were the best team in the league, losing was not an option. But when New England lost games, it was not a fun time for the 33-year-old TE.

Out of his four Super Bowls, Gronkowski won three with New England. Additionally, he never missed the playoffs. But that does not mean that the regular season was a breeze.

When the four-time first-team All-Pro tight end appeared on ‘Up & Adams’, as per NY Post, he accepted that even winning the games did not bring joy. But when team members lost a game, they sank into a deep depression for at least two days.

“So that’s what made you really want to win the games when you were with the Patriots, because you didn’t wanna ever feel that depression feeling for the two days after the game. You’re like, ‘We have to win the game. We have to win the game so we have a good week, so we feel good tomorrow,'” losing games was not an option for the players.

Therefore, in order to never experience those feelings, winning the games became their priority.
