The Missouri product Drew Lock is expected to become the starting quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2022 season. Even though Seahawks management has vested their hopes upon Lock as a potential replacement for Russell Wilson, the youngster has been facing severe criticisms from various fraternities in the sports world, including the latest ones from US Open’s Twitter page. Their social media handle roasted Seahawks fans who dared to take a dig at tennis by saying, “Not a sport”. Meanwhile, Seahawks’ star wide receiver DK Metcalf intruded in between the conversation and obliterated the debate.

Surprisingly, the US Open’s Twitter page reacted to the comment by saying the fan will have to survive his quarterback, Drew Lock, for 17 games in the upcoming season. Instantly, this triggered a debate, and both the parties started sharing statistics and taking a jibe at each other. That’s when Metcalf joined the discussion, “Alright Chill we get the point [US Open].” he tweeted.

Well, this statement can be viewed from different perspectives. Fans seem to have believed that the wide receiver has accepted Lock’s poor records in the past. There is no doubt about the fact that Russell Wilson was an asset to the Seattle Seahawks for the past ten seasons. His trade to the Denver Broncos was an unexpected decision for the fans to assimilate.

This not only altered the position of the Seahawks in the NFC West; but also raised concerns over the abilities of his successor.
Can Drew Lock prove to be an asset for the franchise?
It’s a great achievement for this youngster to get an opportunity to become a starting quarterback despite having veteran Geno Smith on the roster. After playing college football at Missouri, he got drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft.

It was in 2020 that Drew Lock first appeared as a starter for the Broncos. He passed for 2,933 yards and registered 16 touchdowns in 13 games. Last season he appeared in only six games and passed for 787 yards with two touchdowns.
Even though his record doesn’t justify when compared with the former Super Bowl Champion, his abilities can’t be underestimated. If Lock doesn’t work out, the franchise always has a quarterback in Geno Smith, who is also eying for Browns’ QB Baker Mayfield if the deal breaks out between the teams.
