The year 2016 was no less than a rollercoaster ride for the GOAT Tom Brady. Although, the world knows that he won the Super Bowl that season. Yet it’s little known that it was probably the toughest time of his life. The quarterback was broke from the inside when that year his mother, Galynn Brady, got diagnosed with breast cancer and myeloma.

Brady was already going through a lot of criticism and humiliation due to his alleged involvement in the Deflategate controversy. And because of that, he was also suspended from the first four games of the season. It was certainly not a usual start to his season. The quarterback hit rock bottom emotionally.

Narrating the story now, Brady’s elder sister Maureen got overwhelmed with the emotions that followed. “That was a hard year,” she recalled“That was a really hard year. We had a lot going on with my mom and Tommy.” That year was no less than a test of Brady’s resilience. A test that no one could have excelled in, except Tom Brady.

Brady that year proved to the world that he is not only the best player in the NFL but also the best son. “I tried to remain poised and say, ‘Don’t worry, mom, we’re going to get through it,’” said Brady. “And then I automatically — maybe it’s a little bit of a toughening up that I’ve had, but maybe I’m not the most empathetic or sympathetic — I’m trying to solve it.”

Brady tried to cheer up his mother through and through and, then also, keep his calm in the field. “I’m saying, ‘Mom, come on, this is what we’ve got to do, we’ve got to send you to this person, or this person,’” Brady continued“We’re going to fix this.” Obviously, that season was no cakewalk for the quarterback, yet he persisted in his approach. And in the end, that perseverance paid off.
