Rob Gronkowski has always been the go-to guy when push comes to shove. Especially on Super Bowls. Having won it four times in his career, Gronk can be considered somewhat of an expert on the subject. However, things didn’t go according to plan this Sunday at Super Bowl LVII.

The former Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end missed his field goal on a live Super Bowl commercial. And the All-Pro future Hall of Famer also had an excuse for his underwhelming performance on the biggest stage in the NFL.

Gronk with the missed field goal excuses

Tom Brady’s former TE teamed up with FanDuel for the ‘Kick Of Destiny’ to win a cool $10 million for the wagers during the commercial. However, the 25-yard field goal attempt was no good as Gronkowski’s shot swayed left. The betters who put on a minimum of $5 on the sports book stood to divide a massive pool if Gronk made the shot. However, FanDuel took care of the disappointed betters later.

“We’re still giving everyone who qualified a piece of $10,000,000 in Bonus Bets,” FanDuel tweeted. Gronk blamed the wind for his dismal show. “I am not one to make excuses. But if you’re out here and felt this wind, you would know why I missed. If there was no wind, it would have gone right down the middle. But it’s okay. I don’t make excuses. I was just letting you know,” Gronkowski said in his explanation monologue on Twitter.

However, fans still love the legendary athlete despite the missed FG. But some think he should stop blaming the wind.

Rob Gronkowski had the extra support and still missed

It’s not like Gronk came unprepared. The retired NFL icon had Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and girlfriend Camille Kostek rooting on the sidelines. But that’s not all.

Rob Gronkowski had one of the NFL’s all-time great kickers, 3x Super Bowl champion, and former New England Patriots teammate, Adam Vinatieri, coaching him. However, the Phoenix wind proved to be a bigger foe than Rob could have anticipated. FanDuel filmed the field goal, which aired during the second half of the Super Bowl LVII commercial, at an undisclosed location. And the State Farm Arena was reserved for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Lombardi victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, the ‘Gronk Beach Music Festival’ could have had a bigger hand than the wind to take Rob’s mind off the FG. The ‘MVP Of Fun’ hosted the third edition of his festival and had some stellar names in the lineup this year in Phoenix.
