Everything You Need To Know About Southern Miss Football Star Frank Gore Jr

Legendary running back Frank Gore was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005. He was picked in the third round (65th overall). He had a decent rookie season but firmly established himself as a top NFL talent in his second year. Gore made the Pro Bowl team in 2006 and also got his famous nickname ‘The inconvenient truth’. Between 2005-2014, Gore enjoyed some great times with the 49ers and also made the Pro Bowl team on five occasions. He spent some time with Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills before signing for New York Jets earlier this year.

At 37, the seasoned pass-rusher will be pushing for a starting spot this year as well. But this year Gore achieved another major personal milestone as his son, Frank Gore Jr, also made his college football debut. Frank Gore Jr, who is a running back just like his dad, made a stunning debut for Southen Miss Golden Eagles in the game against Southern Alabama.

Frank Gore Jr makes sensation debut for Southern Miss’ Golden Eagles

As father Gore Sr enters his 16th season in the NFL, his son achieves a career milestone of his own by making his NCAA debut. The youngster was impressive during his high school days. He used to play for Miami-Killian High in Florida. He moved to Southern Miss this year and joined the team as a freshman.

Gore Jr takes after his dad and was handed his college football debut in Saturday’s game against Southern Alabama. At 5 feet 8 inches and 165 pounds, Gore Jr isn’t exactly the most terrifying pass rusher in the league. But then again, nor was his dad.

The young star showed signs of promise on his debut appearance. In fact, he almost handed in a contender for the best touchdown of the season. However, his brilliant individual effort was called back by officials. They deemed Gore’s forward progress had been stopped. Southern Miss ultimately fell to a 32-21 defeat at the hand of Southern Alabama on home soil. Gore Jr will hope to build on this performance as the year progresses. Meanwhile, Frank Gore Sr. will be preparing for an opening week encounter against Buffalo Bills.
