Ex-Eagles Legend Urges Jalen Hurts to Sign $500,000,000 Deal Like Patrick Mahomes; Reveals Tom Brady’s Words

The Philadelphia Eagles made it to the playoffs two years consecutively. It is because of the talent pool they have on their roster representing the franchise on the field. One of those talents who is improving his performance year after year is QB Jalen Hurts. Hurts has helped his team compete in the finals of the Super Bowl LVII before bowing down to the winners, the Kansas City Chiefs. He is proving himself as a worthy high-tier QB in the NFL. Now, with his current rookie contract almost coming to an end, will the 24-year-old still play with the Eagles, or will he continue his growth with a new home base?

Speaking in regards to the situation, this ex-Eagles legend believes that the young QB should sign a long-term deal with the franchise, one similar to the 10-year $503 million deal Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes signed in 2020.

LeSean McCoy believes Jalen Hurts should be the Eagles’ franchise QB

Former Eagles RB LeSean McCoy believes that providing a long-term contract similar to Patrick Mahomes is the best possible route for both the player and the team. During an episode of ‘The Speak’ on YouTube, McCoy said that he sees Jalen Hurts as a team player. He further went on to talk about the comparison between Hurts and Mahomes.

McCoy said that once when he was talking with Tom Brady about Chiefs and Mahomes, they felt that what made the QB stand out was not his immense talent in the position, but because of his ability to think long-term with the drive to win games. And McCoy feels that Jalen Hurts has that same drive, which is why a long-term deal will be the best decision to take regarding the player’s future with the Eagles.

Jalen Hurts has gone to prove himself worthy of a big payout in the NFL. He has been constantly improving his game year after year, and it shows in his performance on the field for his team. As Hurts enters into the final chapter of his rookie deal, the Eagles need to decide on a future with him before he is a free agent in the market for other franchises to acquire.

Hurts journey in the NFL so far

The young rising QB was drafted in the second round of the 2020 draft by the Eagles. While he may not have been a first-choice pick for teams, Hurts has constantly proved his worth for the Eagles in the NFL. In 2021, the Eagles made Hurts a part of the main roster. And he had an extraordinary first season as a part of the starting roster. He finished the season with 3144 passing yards,16 passing touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also led all QBs with 784 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles decide on their future with Hurts. He is undeniably on his way to being an amazing QB in the league. As his rookie deal inches closer, fans will find out if the Eagles will decide to keep Hurts with a long-term deal or if another Super Bowl-hunting franchise will acquire him for 2023.
