In a recent Instagram story, Watson was displaying his Browns jersey collection. But unfortunately, the Falcons fans did find a familiar jersey in the background of his photograph. It might have incurred some bad memories in the minds of the Falcons fans, who were among the few who failed to recruit Watson.

The failure to recruit him has meant fans have reservations against owner Arthur Blank and his plans for the franchise. While talking about the recruiting process during the recent NFL meetings, he states, “Explore is the key word. It wasn’t more than that, it wasn’t less than that. We had the interview, and that was the end of it.” Before the Browns’ offer, the Falcons were in some reports, the front-runners to land the Watson.

Despite having a no-trade clause with the Texans, the Falcons did fail to make an alluring presentation to Watson. While entering the 2022 NFL campaign, the Falcons will be counting on QB Marcus Mariota to be their leader. While going for Watson would have turned public opinion against them, it would have been a significant footballing decision.
