The 3-time NFL All-Pro has a larger-than-life personality and an NFL defensive back whose reputation precedes him. After playing in his 9th NFL campaign with the Chiefs, he would not be returning for the 2022 NFL season.

Despite pleading and offering to take less money to remain in Kansas City, it appears his age was a deal-breaker. A move to the Eagles is quite unlikely because of the expenses and the fan can only continue to dream.

There remains plenty of interest for the ‘Honey Badger’ in the market and presenting a lucrative contract for his signature. While Mathieu’s market value is the only thing that makes this situation curious, he would be a luxury acquisition. It might be a sensible deal for any franchise as the 29-year-old safety will be entering the prime years of his NFL career.
