The State Farm Stadium cleanup has brought along despair and sorrow for a family based in Georgia. Shawn Eugene Lee, 44, was among the group of individuals responsible for cleaning up the Super Bowl arena. The incident happened on a Saturday morning, as Lee was taking down a tent. Tragedy struck as another worker unknowingly dragged the man from Georgia a couple of hundred feet behind a UTV (utility terrain vehicle) gator. But, how did it happen?

The family has since identified the deceased man, and police investigations are underway. Police officials are treating the matter as an “industrial accident” and the chances of charges being filed are close to zero.

At one point, another male got behind the wheel of the UTV and started to drive off, without any knowledge that Lee’s harness was attached,” police said in a statement. “Lee was pulled from the tent and dragged unbeknownst by the driver of the UTV.” According to police officials at the time of the accident, Lee was somewhat close to 20 feet high up in the air.

The spokesman for the police department, Jose Santiago, went on to say “We have not been able to determine why it was attached to that vehicle or who attached it to the vehicle,

Lee was immediately rushed to a hospital but eventually succumbed to the injuries he suffered. Medical reports show that Lee passed away due to “blunt force injuries”, deeming the death an “accident”.

The man responsible for dragging Lee has been extremely cooperative with the police department and claims impairment was never a factor in the accident.

Like any other family, Lee’s loved ones have taken the news quite hard. Sharing some of the facts about him, his family remembered the one that passed away.

“Shawn was very kind-hearted, loved, and respected everyone. He was a huge Georgia Bulldogs baseball and football fan. Loved to fish and be outdoors,” his family revealed about him. Dealing with the aftermath of his incident is going to be tough for the family, but they must find the courage to keep moving forward.
