The Dallas Cowboys are legitimate Super Bowl contenders this NFL season. After a dominating win over an in-form Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, the Cowboys have removed any doubts about them. However, it is not just the Dallas offense that does the trick. And young Micah Parsons doesn’t like it when the offense hogs all the credit.

Dallas Defensive OL Micah Parsons had some doubts about the prestigious NFL MVP awards. Particularly, regarding the leagues’ bias surrounding quarterbacks. Historically, the NFL’s Most Valuable Player has almost always been the QB, with a few exceptions over the league’s history. The last time a non-QB was named MVP was way back in 2012 (Adrian Peterson).

It all started when the NFL’s official Twitter account posted a fan poll to see who leads the MVP votes this season. The contenders? All quarterbacks. The choices included Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, Buffalo’s Josh Allen, the 9-1 Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa from the Miami Dolphins. And Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons wondered why there was no defensive representation.

There have been only 18 instances where non-QBs have won MVP. LaDainian Tomlinson, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, and Lawrence Taylor are 4 of those 18. The 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year retweeted the post and asked his doubt, “why this a QB based award?

When the league didn’t respond to Micah, Parsons even tried getting a clarification from former NFL quarterback and expert Dan Orlovsky. Fans of different franchises also left their thoughts on the replies.

Parson has been an MVP candidate since he joined the NFL

Micah Parsons is a generational talent, according to many experts, and will take the Cowboys to their former heights. When Dak Prescott was injured in the NFL’s opening week loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas’ hopes were dwindling. However, the Cowboys’ defense stepped up to the moment and helped the franchise to four successive victories without their first-choice QB. Hence, the linebacker’s frustration with the MVP selection process made a lot of sense.

Micah Parsons had 84 combined tackles to go with 13 sacks in his monster rookie season last year. And the 23-year-old from Penn State has carried his stellar form into the 2022 season. Parsons has 47 tackles after Week 11 this season alongside 12 sacks and even 1 incredible return touchdown.

On SNF, Micah started the night on a roll after sacking QB Kirk Cousins within two minutes of the game starting and recovering the ball for the Cowboys. Parsons had 4 combined tackles and 2 sacks on Cousins in the 40-3 demolition of the Minnesota Vikings.

WATCH STORY: Micah Parsons has emerged as a defensive force in the league. Legend Lawrence Taylor has some cherishing word for Parsons.

Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl in over a quarter of a century. And Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard, and Micah Parsons can elevate the Dallas team to the Championship level. If that happens, Micah’s MVP candidacy will surely become a certainty. However, now is not the time to think about that. Parsons and the Cowboys face divisional rivals, the 7-3 NY Giants next.
