Former 49ers WR Hails Jimmy Garoppolo Ahead of Potential Departure From Franchise: “He’s Running Meetings Like Coaches”

The future of Jimmy Garoppolo with the San Francisco 49ers is still up in the air. The veteran quarterback enters the final year of his five-year contract with the franchise. Many believe that the athlete could be on his way out of the club. The 49ers do not want to let Garoppolo go, but they haven’t signed a new deal yet. 

Recently, the former 49ers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders did an interview with “Good Morning Football”. During the interview, he praised his former quarterback. Sanders revealed how much Jimmy G loved the Niners and talked about his leadership skills in the locker room.

Emmanuel Sanders describes who Jimmy Garoppolo really is

Emmanuel Sanders played with Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers in the 2019 season. During his short stay with the Niners, he developed a special bond with the quarterback. Garoppolo always carried himself in a certain way. The veteran has always tried to help other players and win the games.

“There are certain people who know who they are. Jimmy G knows who he is,” said Sanders. “Jimmy G has his own swagger. He’s not walking around saying it, but Jimmy G plays the swagger. Jimmy G is a leader. He’s a natural leader. I’ve played with a lot of quarterbacks, but when I tell you this guy’s a leader, he allows guys to follow him. But just not how he works, but when he comes in, he’s running meetings like coaches, like he’s a natural-born leader.”

Garoppolo is the kind of player who would take a young prospect under his wing and help them out. He wants the young athletes to be successful. The interviewer asked Sander if the situation between the veteran and the young athletes like Trey Lance gets uncomfortable? Does Jimmy G feel like he is training his replacement, and he wants them to stay away? Sanders explained that Jimmy knows who he is. If the young player becomes successful, the veteran will be happy and won’t break a sweat. There are 31 other football teams in the league, and he can easily find a place.

The quarterback respects the young talents and always tries to teach them everything he can. We do not know how long Jimmy Garoppolo will remain with the 49ers, but his departure will not be easy for the team and the fans.
