Colin Kaepernick got inspired to stand against the injustices of the system and protested in the NFL. Although he is no longer a part of any team since 2016, an army veteran wrote an open letter to him. The ex-Green Beret expressed his take on Kaepernick’s protest and showed hopes for him in the future.

Nate Boyer, the ex-Green Beret, also played for the Seattle Seahawks in NFL camp as a 34-year-old rookie. He had dreams of playing football apart from being a firefighter, but he could only fulfill one of those. Moreover, after the media approached him multiple times, he finally decided to write an open letter to Colin Kaepernick with the Army Times in 2017.

Little did Boyer know that Kaepernick, who he had once written off, would play a critical role in the sport’s history, in his view. Boyer wrote he understands what Kaepernick is doing and recognized that it takes a lot of courage. In addition, he wrote, he’d be lying if he knew what it felt like walking in his shoes.

While Kaepernick protested during the national anthem, Boyer understood the criticisms he received. He said, “That’s a sacred time for a lot of people.” He picked the right note since Colin’s move received immense backlash.
