Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms and his take on the NFL GOAT Tom Brady was considered controversial by some fans. While Brady is entering his 23rd season and coming off a career-high passing yards season, Simms was not kind in his assessment. The former Buccaneers QB hosts one of the more intriguing football podcasts in “Unbuttoned,” and is not afraid of giving hot takes.

He also has a co-host on the show in former Iowa QB Paul Burmeister, who works with NBC Sports similar to Simms. Both Burmeister and Simms seem to differ upon the latter’s recent Top 40 QBs list.

The Iowa QB made the most of his opportunity to work with “Football Morning in America” and write a column as a guest. While talking about Simms’ ranking of Brady, Burmeister states, “Tom Brady at 8? I’d have him higher. His combination of conviction and talent still wins the play most times. Chris sees a deficiency when the pocket starts to collapse around Brady, and Chris feels Brady’s reaction at that moment is not as good as those ranked ahead of him.

Does Chris Simms’ observation seem too harsh for Tom Brady?

While Burmeister admits Simms has a valid point, he still believes that Brady is a Top 5 NFL QB. The ability to make decisions under pressure and throw fastball still resembles his old dominant self. However, he adds that the ‘Unbuttoned‘ host is being too stingy in finding ways of ranking down Brady.
