The New York Giants are trying to make a comeback for a while now. Since their 2012 Super Bowl win, the team hasn’t had much luck, despite making severe changes in both the rosters and even the coaching staff. Trouble for the team only worsened after their star RB, Saquon Barkley refused to budge with his negotiation for contract restructure in the upcoming season. Giants, on the other hand, are in desperate need of Barkley if they wish to become a Super Bowl contender.

However, despite being offered generous sums of $12.5 million and even $14 million, Say-Say has declined both offers. This has intensified the back-and-forth between the team and the star RB. To add fuel to the fire, Barkley has now come out with a cutting reply, aiming his remarks at both the team and possibly even the fans.

As the training camp dawns near, teams must choose to sign coveted players or make a hard call. Say-Say hired several agents for his negotiations and revealed that he does not intend to play on the franchise tag. Therefore, it’s safe to say that he’s looking for not only a fair but also a long-term deal. Although the star RB has maintained an air of secrecy regarding his negotiations, he never shies away from a clap back. And his recent post on his Instagram page definitely takes the cake.

The 2x Pro Bowl recently posted a set of pictures taken in the gym. The caption of the post read, “Maybe if I wasn’t built for this I’d let it phase … 🤷🏾‍♂️💫,” pointing at his resolute determination, not only on the contract restructuring but also to his exceptional athletic prowess. In the first photo, Say-Say can be seen flexing his pecks while blessing the fans with a genuine smile. In the second and third photos, he can then be seen lifting heavy weights and also working out with a pulley.

He also posted a famous snapshot of Michael Jordan doing a gesture that says, “What can I say?” The fans instantly got divided in the comment section, be it to praise his remarkable physique or to throw shades at him for not signing the contract yet.

What happens if the Giants don’t budge?

While Barkley throws shade at his team, the deadline only comes closer and closer. As per NY Post, the RB was even offered a deal with $19 million guaranteed. However, it needs to be closer to $22 million to finalize a deal, a combined worth of the franchise tags from both 2023 and 2024, hence another rejection. Also, there’s an ultimatum till Monday to sign the RB or he will have to wait till the end of this season to be resigned again.

There are only rumors and speculations about the contract, as both the team and Barkley have remained secretive about the whole thing. He even declined a claim on Twitter after a page claimed that the Giants offered a $13 million annual salary. Therefore, it is full of uncertainties as of now. And only by Monday, it will be revealed if the RB gets to play with the team this season.
