The 49ers’ week 1 opponent, the Steelers have dominated the preseason with a neat 3-0 win streak. The Gold Rush received a glimmer of hope ahead of the season opener as their formidable wide receiver, Ray-Ray McCloud, has been given the green light to return to the field. McCloud underwent surgery last month for a fractured left wrist sustained during a joint practice with the Raiders.
In addition, rookie placekicker Jake Moody has also been cleared to play, having recovered from a quadriceps injury. He is set to step in for Robbie Gould, the most accurate kicker in franchise history.
Despite these positive developments, the Niners’ prospects for the season opener appear doubtful. Nonetheless, history has witnessed remarkable comebacks from seemingly weaker teams in the NFL.
