But that wasn’t always the sentiment around Hurts. Going into his initial days with the Eagles, there was a ton of doubt amongst the Philadelphia fans and even their front office. Since then, Hurts has done nothing but prove his doubters wrong, leading the Eagles to a 19-2 in his last 21 starts. And Hurts has certainly been rewarded for his efforts, with the biggest contract in NFL history. The news of Hurts extending his time with the Eagles has been celebrated by the franchise extensively as one NFL veteran also expressed his delight.

Speaking on the ins and outs of Hurts’ contract, NFL veteran and sportscaster Marcellus Wiley expressed his pride at the young QB1. “Eagles just extended their superstar quarterback on a five-year $255 million guarantee contract extension now I say guarantee because 179 of it is guaranteed, 110 fully guaranteed at signing,” exclaimed an elated Wiley.

Additionally, Wiley found himself loving certain nuances of Hurts’ contact, ” He’s also the first in Eagles’ history to get a no-trade clause. I’m loving that. No, I’m loving that, because we all know how hard it has been for Jalen Hurts to get all the love he deserved in Philadelphia.” Just like every other NFL fan, Marcellus Wiley acknowledges the constant scrutiny Jalen Hurts had to deal with coming into Philly and is proud of the deal this young phenom has secured himself.

The all-female team behind Hurts’ victory
Representation plays a major part in NFL athletes signing their ideal contracts, and Jalen Hurts certainly had the best team. Hurts’ contract put up not one but two records: the largest contract in NFL history and the largest contract completed by an all-female team. Spearheaded by Nicole Lynn, the all-women management team from the sports agency Klutch Sports Group certainly made Hurts’ job easier going into the offseason. Speaking on Lynn and her team, Jalen Hurts said, “I have a team of straight hustlers. … They get things done. And that’s how I am on the field and off the field.”

Nicole Lynn was the one to contact Hurts during his hunt for a sports agent in January 2020 as the two bonded over people doubting their abilities and overlooking them. While Jalen Hurts, considered himself an underdog, he saw the same fire in Nicole Lynn. During her conversations with Hurts, Lynn said, “I’m a woman. People are going to overlook me. People are going to doubt me. They’re not going to give me the due respect. But I’m overcoming it, just like you do.”And that is exactly where the two hit off, realizing the vision they shared. With Hurts securing a record contract heading into the season, maybe ‘underdog’ is a word he can no longer use for himself.
