For a side boasting the likes of Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf, it is a crime that the Seahawks are languishing at the bottom of NFC West. Simply put, it is unacceptable.

With 3 wins and 8 losses so far, the Seattle-based side sunk further last night when they lost 17-15 to the highly inconsistent Washington Football Club. The much-acclaimed Seahawks offensive duo of Metcalf – Wilson was invisible last night, and the Seattle captain accepted his shortcomings post-match.

Seattle Coach Pete Carroll lauds Washington’s defensive brilliance for his team’s offensive struggles

For a side that took pride in its offensive firepower, the Seahawks were as sloppy as they come. The QBs didn’t make any play. Nor were the wide receivers lethal enough to convert the bare minimum chances they got. However, if the problem needs to be pinpointed, Russell Wilson must be the first person to be looked at.

Ever since Russell’s finger injury, the QB hasn’t been the same before, and last night again proved that when WR DK Metcalf caught only one catch from 4 plays in the entire night. However, head coach Pete Carroll believed the team tried well, but the Washington defenders were well disciplined.

“It’s not because we weren’t trying and looking to him [DK Metcalf] and trying to get that ball to him,” Carroll said, via the team’s official transcript. “He’s involved in all of the calls, but sometimes the coverage gets in the way of it, and you have to go other places and make the right decision there. “

Before I delve further, I would like to present some stats. The Seahawks’ offense last night ran just 18 plays in the first half. WR DK Metcalf only received ONE CATCH in the entire night. Any sane person, after a look at these stats, can come to two conclusions. Either the Seahawks’ side is very poor, or they are deliberately not passing the ball to DK Metcalf.

Post-match, QB Russell Wilson acknowledged DK’s talent and said that the WR needs to be more involved in their play. “Yeah, I think obviously we need to get DK the football,” Wilson said. “He’s one of the best football players in the world. You gotta get him the football, gotta find ways to do it, gotta move him around some more, maybe. We’re gonna study it and see what we can do.”
