Normally, NFL teams do not have a say in creating the schedule. However, Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy revealed that he made two requests for early in the season. As per the requests, the Packers would be on the road for consecutive weeks at the end of September/beginning of October.
This is largely because of the Wisconsin-Notre Dame game at Lambeau Field on Oct. 3. Additionally, the Ryder Cup precedes that game at Whistling Straits.

“For the Wisconsin game we said the facility wasn’t available and for the Ryder Cup we requested to be on the road,” Murphy said at the combine.

Will the Green Bay Packers get their wish?
The Green Bay Packers’ president/CEO is looking forward to the NFL’s 2020 full season schedule. However, he knows that none of the games will be played on time and with fans in the stands. With the COVID-19 pandemic raging, there’s no guarantee that any games will happen, especially in the United States.

“I obviously hope that we are able to play the entire season as scheduled. But, as the old saying goes, hope is not a strategy,” Murphy wrote on the team’s website. “While the league office is planning to play an entire schedule, we are also looking at other options if the health and safety of our players and fans dictate that we not play games or play games without fans.
“We are trying not to set false deadlines and to wait as long as possible before making final decisions regarding whether and how to play games.”
