April is over. And we are entering the finale of the NFL off season. A period of time that in recent years has changed the whole spectrum of the league. And just like every year, Aaron Rodgers played an integral role in the narratives that surrounded the off season. For almost the entirety of his later career, the complaint has been that the ace quarterback has not been awarded enough help. Well, help has seemingly arrived in this draft. The Green Bay Packers have done fairly well in the offensive department.

The Packers, following tradition, used both their first round picks to pick up defensive players. They drafted LB Quay Walker and DL Devonte Wyatt, both from Georgia And from the reports it seems those are two strong picks. The Packers will need a strong defense and there are players on the roster who have a lot of miles on their bodies. In the second round though, the Packers went for offense. They first picked up North Dakota State’s Christian Watson with the 34th overall pick. He’s a tall route runner who has shown high potential in his college career. Watson ran an amazing 4.36 in the 40 yard dash. It is safe to say that Watson will start adding value from day 1 in the absence of Davante Adams.

Then the team went on to pick up an OL Sean Rhyan who will be transitioning to an inside role as per reports due to his length. Subsequently they drafted Romeo Doubs from Nevada who will be joining Watson in the WR’s room. He is a couple of inches shy of Watson but has the ability to get behind coverage on deep routes.

Doubs also runs fast and can outrun his opponents. And their last pick of the 2022 Draft was a Wide Receiver as well. The 258th overall pick from Nebraska, Samori Toure.

This shows that the Packers are onto something. They have drafted top defensive players and then picked up quality and quantity in offensive drafting. They have also picked up 14 undrafted free agents. And that could be the over arching reason for their continuous success in the draft. Undoubtedly from Brett Favre to Rodgers to Adams they have always found their diamonds in the draft.

As Packers’ veteran writer Zach Kruse said:

So it is really not in the front offices’ hand any more.

And this year as well they seem to have given Rodgers the apt arsenal given the circumstances that the team found themselves in. And in any case, we have seen that the team can ride the regular season with ease given its talented play-caller and the proficiency of the roster. And roster building. The issues come when the big stage comes to town. When the lights are bright and the stakes are the highest.
