The return of Quarterback Tom Brady for his 23rd season has been nothing but sensational. Having the greatest quarterback of all time in the league will be an enormous advantage for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They already won a Super Bowl under the reign of Brady. Now that he is back, they will eye another playoff triumph. Although, GM Jason Licht had some backup plans if the quarterback chose not to retire.

Brady made headlines on the same day he and his boys went to the Old Trafford Stadium to attend the Red Devils play. After the game, he greets soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The comeback rumors have left social media in a state of bewilderment.

At a period when an unprecedented number of elite play-callers were on the market, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were already adjusting to life without Tom Brady and had even explored the possibility of trying to find a replacement starter.

Jason Licht exposes the replacement of Tom Brady

In recent times, Jason Licht recently appears on the Rich Eisen Show. Host Eisen asks multiple questions to the Bucs’ general manager. One question refers to that was there anything specific Tom Brady asked for or needed to see anything from you before he announced his choice?

Jason Licht responds, “No, he didn’t, and he’s not like that; he’s not one to say, “Hey, I really, really need this player,” or “Never talk to him about the draft.” Um, you know, last year, I let him know we were probably going to take Kyle Trask, and he was there in the second round, but that was just so he knew, but no.”

He also mentions that the quarterback has interacted with former HC Bruce Arians and him regarding a few players. One of them was Rob Gronkowski, and the second was Antonio Brown. However, Tom Brady isn’t a demanding person at all.

The mega renaissance

Although Tom Brady will be 45 years old at the start of next season, he is coming off a fantastic year in which he led the NFL in pass completions (485), pass attempts (719), passing yards (5,316), and passing touchdowns (43). Brady came in second place in MVP voting, trailing Aaron Rodgers.

Brady will now return to a squad that appears to contend for another Super Bowl. The Buccaneers ended the season 13-4 but fell to the current Super Bowl winners, the Los Angeles Rams. A full season has passed since the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl 55 victory over the Chiefs when Brady won his NFL-record fifth Super Bowl MVP award.

Even though Pro Bowl guard Ali Marpet declared his retirement and remained so even after Brady returned, the Buccaneers have added to their roster ever since the start of the new league year in March, dealing for guard Shaq Mason and signing receiver Russell Gage. The buccaneers are going through a period of transition. But with Brady’s relentless competitive attitude, they should be able to win another Super Bowl in the future season.
