A joke might entertain the masses, but it could also make a situation go very awkward. An effort to make a joke on a national TV show resulted in a strained and uncomfortable occasion. The booth had analysts Peter Burns and Benjamin Watson getting awkward, and the moment was getting massive attention. A former NFL TE could not back but react to the situation.

During the Florida-Vanderbilt game, the SEC Network show had Chris Doeren, Takeo Spikes, Peter Burns, and Benjamin Watson in the Halftime Report booth. They were joking about their suits, and Watson was the only one wearing a light-colored. The atmosphere became tense after Burns joked about receiving a text from Watson’s wife. It led to the FS1 show host NFL analyst Shannon Sharpe talking about it on Twitter.

Ex-NFL TE did not look happy about the scene

Shannon Sharpe mentioned, “Everyone doesn’t play those s**ual in nature wife jokes. I know Ben personally. He definitely doesn’t play about the wife. Ben is very religious. He liked to lost all his religion in 5 sec.”

After the awkward moment, the cameras shifted away from the team. However, they captured their reactions. Doeren and Spikes were the only ones on the set after the commercial, while Watson came to his seat a bit late. Doeren asked Watson about Burns while referencing Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap.

Benjamin Watson did not look happy about what happened at the moment. Chris Doeren tried to lighten up the moment, but Watson looked mad. Safe to say, National TV nearly had another infamous slap moment on the ESPN SEC Network. But did everything straighten out?

Benjamin Watson wants an apology from Peter Burns

The moment that took place during an SEC broadcast looked awkward. After all, Peter Burns made a joke that was heavily inappropriate to the eyes of the former NFL TE. The hosts seemed to have exchanged words off-camera and took a photograph following the event. Burns shared an image of the two, but Watson didn’t appear to be as joyful as his peer.

Peter Burns shared the picture, adding a hashtag of friendship in the tweet. But the former Patriots TE mentioned, “Moving on. But you still owe Mrs Watson a public apology.”

Peter Burns may have to owe an apology to the ex-NFL TE’s wife. Burns may have also learned that making fun of someone’s spouse, notably Benjamin Watson’s, isn’t a good idea.
