In the 2011 draft, Cam Newton was the No.1 overall pick for the Panthers, courtesy of the former head coach Ron Rivera. They played together for the next nine years. In his tenure at Carolina, the former head coach had a record of 75-63-1. Newton was a part of 66-55-1 games. Together they won The 50th Super Bowl in 2015 and three NFC South titles.

Rivera had an amazing run with the Panthers until he was fired two years ago. As soon as the Panthers let him go, Washington Football Team hired him. Rivera won the NFC East title in his first year with Washington.

Cam Newton returned to action last week against the Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers won the bout with a whopping 24 points. Final result of the match was 10-34. The return of the star quarterback had an immediate effect on the game. He threw a touchdown pass and punched one on the ground himself. The 2021 debut of the Superman sequel was a success. As WFT travels to Carolina to meet the Panthers on Sunday, Newton will probably be playing. The meeting between the former Panthers head coach and his star quarterback is inevitable.

“The thing I always remember too is he hated to lose more than anybody I’ve ever been around.” Rivera said, addressing Cam Newton, “There are a lot of really cool moments. Everything from him being our first draft pick and the work that we put in to make him our first draft pick.” Ron Rivera clearly still has a lot of respect and admiration for Cam Newton.
