Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has a tremendous influence on the Wisconsin-based franchise. Recent reports have only cemented that fact. The new Packers QB coach Tom Clements revealed it was Rodgers, who pulled him out of retirement. Clements joins the organization following the departure of former QB coach Luke Getsy to fill the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator vacancy.

It was the former Super Bowl champion who put in the effort to connect his old coach with head coach Matt LaFleur. Clements enjoyed a decade-long stint with the franchise from 2006 to 2016 and will come back for a second stint to work with Rodgers. The appointment of Clements took place before Rodgers signed his contract extension with the franchise.

While talking about his conversations with Rodgers, Clements states, “That was my first question to him, ‘What are you thinking?’. And we just talked about it and I felt good, fairly confident that he was coming back. The team and he have had some great years and still [have] a good chance to contend for the Super Bowl. I know that’s what he wants: He wants another Super Bowl. And that was one of the things that intrigued me also.

Clements’ addition will benefit the Packers, especially with the evolution of Rodgers’ game from his early years. Head coach LaFleur recruited Rich Bisaccia as the special teams coordinator following their shambolic performance in the last game of their season. Packers fans will hope that 2022 is the season their wait for a Super Bowl title finally ends.
