The NFC championship game saw a lot of drama on Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers effectively played half of the game without a QB. Their QB1 Brock Purdy went out during the first drive against the Philadelphia Eagles. And now a concerning update about Purdy has made the fans sit on the edge of their seats.

Purdy went undefeated in every game he started for the Niners this season. And the team missed him dearly against the Eagles on Sunday.

Brock Purdy went out with an injury during the Niners’ first offensive drive in the NFC championship game at the Lincoln Financial Field. The fans wanted to know the extent of the injury that kept the rookie QB out of such a big game against the Eagles. According to reports, Purdy suffered a torn UCL injury in the game that will keep him out for at least six months.

The NFL world can’t get their heads around the extent of the injury. Many fans lauded the rookie for coming back in for the team. Others wished the QB a speedy recovery.

Purdy came back in after his backup Josh Johnson went out due to a concussion. The Niners didn’t have a QB on the bench although Christian McCaffrey could have slotted into the position. And the Eagles capitalized on the situation and the game turned into a blowout.

The Eagles down the Niners

The Niners worked as a machine throughout the season and a well-oiled one at that. They lost both their starting QBs Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo earlier in the season. Brock Purdy, the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, walked into the team and made the spot his own. He led the franchise to the NFC championship game but that is where his luck ran out. And so did the Niners.

Purdy suffered an injury in the first quarter against the Eagles. His backup Josh Johnson suffered a concussion not long after. So, the Niners were effectively without a QB. The Eagles capitalized on it and trumped the visitors 31-7 to make it to the Super Bowl. Will the Niners sign a new QB next season? Will Purdy return as a starter?
