The New England Patriots are one of the most successful NFL franchises. There was a time when the Boston-based franchise totally dominated the league. But their recent record hasn’t been up to the standards that they have set for themselves over the years under Bill Belichick. Does that affect a prospect’s reaction if they get drafted by the franchise in the draft though?

The Patriots are currently engaged in the 2023 draft to invest in their future. But during the process, the fans spotted a player who did not appear happy to be drafted into New England. But was it exactly how it happened or there is more to it than meets the eye? The NFL Twitter had some views on the matter.

Not happy to be with the New England Patriots? 

The New England Patriots picked up Georgia Tech linebacker Keion White in the second round of the 2023 draft. It is one of the most emotional moments of any prospect’s life. But some fans think White seemed a little disappointed. The clip went viral and drew a host of reactions from the fandom. Many fans thought that he didn’t like the team he was going into. Others read into the timing of the clip and concluded there was a delay in capturing footage. It sparked a debate on Twitter.

This fan gave a reason for Keion White’s reaction to being drafted by the Patriots and it has to do with the division.

Many pointed out that the timing of the video was off, and his original reaction was way different. Even the page which originally posted the video acknowledged that the video was a bit off. So no, White wasn’t mad about getting the Patriots. But maybe he was and the franchise’s recent form didn’t impress him much.

There was a time when the Patriots were the most feared team in the league. But ever since they lost Tom Brady, the franchise hasn’t been the same. In fact, the team that won six Super Bowl titles since 2001 hasn’t even won a single playoff game in the four seasons since Brady left.

Mac Jones did well initially for the franchise at QB but it now looks like he has fallen out of favor with coach Belichick. Billy Zappe is another option but he is also an unproven asset till now. The legendary head coach will surely want a better performance next season. The Patriots went 8-9 overall in the 2022 season and missed the playoffs.
