Adversity and challenges are something that both pound-for-pound boxing star Canelo Alvarez and reigning Super Bowl champion Odell Beckham Jr. have in common. One of the best boxers in the world, the Mexican star lost in a bout against Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title on Saturday. The loss marks only the second loss of his professional boxing career and almost 9 years after his first loss against Floyd Mayweather.

OBJ was full of praise for Alvarez and his bold attempt to accept a fight away from his weight class. The former Rams WR was impressed with his fighting ability and put out a couple of tweets.

He states, “This fight was tough! Heart of a Lion.” and praises Bivol for his sharpness during the bout.

Both OBJ and Alvarez were once overwhelming favorites in their respective careers. But while they suffered setbacks, they have always shown their quality to come back from them. OBJ has had a stop-start career in the NFL after being plagued with injuries but has since achieved his dream of becoming a Super Bowl champion.

The bout was more than an upset for Alvarez and shatters his dreams of conquering all the belts. Similarly, OBJ has been a man with many shattered dreams due to his inability to stay fit consistently. The wideout was unable to capitalize on his impressive rookie season and had his issues throughout his career in the league.

Despite being an overwhelming favorite, Alvarez failed to breach his opponent’s superior defensive game plan. Bivol was the bigger fighter and was flawless in his performance against Canelo.

It is an interesting analysis from the former Browns WR, who has put in adverse situations himself throughout his career. The Canelo fans will be hoping that he comes swinging back again whenever another such opportunity comes calling. The Canelo-Bivol fight will be something that even the NFL fans will remember in the future for their greatness.
