Another reason for Jags’ fans to rejoice in 2021 was the selection of Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence at the 2021 NFL Draft. The National Championship winning quarterback was drafted as the 1st overall pick earlier this year. He was tipped to be the ‘messiah’ to lead Jacksonville to the Super Bowl.

Coach Urban Meyer determined to succeed with Jacksonville Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence’s NFL debut was anti-climactic, to say the least. The former Clemson man threw 3 interceptions as the Jags lost by a 21-37 scoreline in Week 1. Following their defeat, a lot of flak was directed towards coach Urban Meyer.

“I’m here and committed to try to build an organization…I don’t want to ever fall into that trap of saying this is four-year plan, three-year plan. That’s not fair to players. This is a one-game plan and then we’ll worry about the next game.”

“There’s some guys that played a lot of football in that locker room and they deserve our very best, and that’s what it is. Other than a bruised soul that we all have right now, we’re still swinging away, and like I said, you’d probably see a little different look on my face if I had bad guys. That’s not the case at all,” Meyer said via ESPN sources.
