Sauce Gardner’s stance on A-Rod to Jets

The Jets housed the second-strongest defense in the NFL this season following only the formidable 49ers. Sauce and the boys allowed only 18.6 points per game to their opponents this year. However, their offensive loopholes proved to be too costly as they ended the season 7-10 at the bottom of the AFC East division. And Sauce feels there is room for improvement.

He’s [A-Rod] definitely great. He’s definitely elite. He’s been doing it since damn near before I was born. I can’t discredit nothing that he does. I’ve seen him do so many good things. He’s a great quarterback for sure. I wouldn’t mind that [Rodgers to Jets]. I want what’s best for the offense. But, at the same time, I just gotta focus on my job and focus on what we’ve got going on the defensive side,” Sauce said.

Rodgers has already said that he is ready for his MVP hat trick this year, with or without the Packers. And Sauce’s words may just have the desired impact on the trade this off-season.

The Jets just hired former Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator. Hackett was also the OC for Green Bay in the last two MVP seasons for Aaron Rodgers. However, the biggest factor behind this ease of transition is not A-Rod’s skill set or his rapport with Hackett. It’s his pre-existing relationship with current NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson.

Wilson and Rodgers will be no Rodgers and Favre. Aaron and Zach developed a special bond during their one-on-one session in the off-season. Wilson has grown up idolizing the future Hall of Famer and will have no problem handing the baton for a few years to learn from the sidelines.
