Also, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman slammed the veteran quarterback. He tweeted, “He’s beyond lost. Guarantee you there were black men fighting along side your grandfather but this doesn’t seem to be about that. That uncomfortable conversation you are trying to avoid by injecting military into a conversation about brutality and equality is part of the problem.”

The duo had support in the form of Brees’ New Orleans teammates, too.

Brees’ former teammate Malcolm Jenkins who returned to the Saints ahead of the 2020 season too lashed out at the quarterback, despite revealing Brees provided him an explanation before he posted the video.

He tweeted, “I recorded a few videos when thinking of how to respond to Drew Brees, I don’t take any of it back-I meant what I said-I removed the 1st video because I knew it be more about the headlines. I want people to understand how those of us struggling with what’s going on feel.”

Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas tweeted, “he don’t know better.” Later he added, “we don’t care if you don’t agree and whoever else how about that.”

Another wide receiver teammate in Emmanuel Sanders tweeted, “Smh.. Ignorant.”

Chiefs’ safety Tyrann Mathieu urged Brees to never forget that he represents New Orleans, Louisiana.

24-year-old New York Jets Safety Jamal Adams too slammed the veteran quarterback.
