“He’s Beyond Lost”: Richard Sherman, Malcolm Jenkins and Other NFL Stars Bash Drew Brees for His Comments

New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees aired his views on the debate regarding NFL players protests. Whilst talking to Yahoo Finance, he said, “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.” The quarterback had his fair share of support, but many NFL players slammed him for his stance.

Fellow NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers is one of the most prominent names to condemn the comments. He did not name drop, reply to, or tag Drew Brees. However, the words of his reply made his intended target crystal clear to all.

Also, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman slammed the veteran quarterback. He tweeted, “He’s beyond lost. Guarantee you there were black men fighting along side your grandfather but this doesn’t seem to be about that. That uncomfortable conversation you are trying to avoid by injecting military into a conversation about brutality and equality is part of the problem.”

The duo had support in the form of Brees’ New Orleans teammates, too.
Brees’ former teammate Malcolm Jenkins who returned to the Saints ahead of the 2020 season too lashed out at the quarterback, despite revealing Brees provided him an explanation before he posted the video.
He tweeted, “I recorded a few videos when thinking of how to respond to Drew Brees, I don’t take any of it back-I meant what I said-I removed the 1st video because I knew it be more about the headlines. I want people to understand how those of us struggling with what’s going on feel.”

Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas tweeted, “he don’t know better.” Later he added, “we don’t care if you don’t agree and whoever else how about that.”
