“Hit Me at Least Going 40 Miles an Hour”: Pro Bowl NFLer Revisits Horrifying Past That “Messed” Him Bad

Everyone goes through some such events in their lives that stay with them forever. From good to bad, these events sometimes change the course of direction of how an individual moves forward with their life. When it’s an incident that is shocking and fear-inducing, it sort of tends to leave a scar on the minds of people. Sometimes they even leave physical reminders that they have to carry on while moving forward with life. Something similar happened with the Pro Bowler Marcellus Wiley. He, recently, opened up about this incident.

Such was the case with this former NFL Pro Bowler, as he recalls a horrifying incident from his past that messed up his well-being. 

Marcellus Wiley recalls a horrifying accident that affected him physically

During a recent episode of the ‘Marcellus Wiley’ show on YouTube, the former NFL defensive end recalls how an accident last year caused massive damage to his body. Wiley said that last year in June, a car came up and hit his car while he was waiting at a red light.

The impact was such that it cause Wiley to jerk, causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel and whiplash back. Apart from this, his knee also hit the console of the car. This caused serious neck, back, and knee issues for Wiley, for which he is still taking therapy even today.

Wiley said, “This dude that hit me, he hit me at least going 40 miles an hour. I’m at a redlight, right? So I’m about to make it right into the Fox slot. And I’m sitting at the red light just waiting. And all of a sudden you hear ‘screeech’ and then we all think the same thing, ‘damn I hope that person’s alright.’ Never assuming that person is you. BAM! And all of a sudden, head hits the steering wheel. Come back with the whiplash. Then my knee hits the console. Oh man I’m feeling bad.”

The incident happened when Wiley was still associated with FOX sports and was a part of the ‘Speak for Yourself’ show. But the former NFL player decided to call it quits on his association with the network and the show. Why did Wiley decide to leave FOX?

Wiley felt himself getting distant from the FOX show

Last year, Marcellus Wiley made the decision to leave FS1’s ‘Speak for Yourself’ show. He appeared on the show with his co-host and former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho. But as the show continued, Wiley felt that the network was growing distant from what he had visioned with his role in the show. He felt the show moving in the opposite direction from what he wanted to do. 

After leaving the show, Wiley focused on podcasts with the ‘More to it’ podcast as a part of The Dan Patrick Podcast network. He has come a long way from there and now runs his own YouTube Channel covering the NFL in the way he wants to. And we can rest assured that he has a long way to go with his passion for the sport.
