The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had a not so ideal start to their 2021 NFL campaign. Losing both of their last two preseason games, the Tom Brady led defending Super Bowl champions have looked a like a shadow of their former selves.

The same though can’t be said about the Houston Texans. Riding high on two back-to-back wins, under a new head coach and GM, the side has shown promise.

Thus with the two teams set to collide for their last preseason tie, Houston Texans safety Justin Reid has said that his side will give it their all to defend home turf.

Talking to the Texas Sports Nation, Texans safety Reid said that taking on the defending Super Bowl champs led by Tom Brady is the best possible acid test ahead of the new season.

“Oh, this is the best test you can have,” Reid said after last practice of training camp. “We’re going against the defending Super Bowl champs. Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time. That makes it a little bit more exciting.”

With GM Nick Caserio bringing in a whole host of new players on defense, the side has clicked in making some plays on that end. And the confidence is running sky high.

“The confidence is high on the defensive side of the ball,” Reid said. “I feel like we’ve been playing solid so far. We haven’t had a test against a starting quarterback yet, so this will be exciting for us to actually do that.”

Reid also said that having their fans over for their first home tie of 2021 will only give him and his side the added boost they need to succeed.

“It’s our first home game, too. We’re going to have a good crowd come out, so we want to defend the home turf,” he added.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to play some starters in the second half of the tie against the Texans. Maybe then Reid will get his chance to take on Tom Brady in the pocket.
