Terry Crews, the former Rams DE, talked about Will Smith’s action at the Oscars and said, “Both Will Smith and Chris Rock are dear, dear friends of mine, I love them both as brothers, but there was a time in my life [where] I was Will Smith at that moment, and let me tell you, I’ve done worse than Will — way overkill, just … the punishment did not fit the crime.”

Terry lauded Chris Rock for showing his composure throughout the whole situation. However, he wasn’t in favor of ruling Will Smith as an assaulter after his altercation on the stage.

Will Smith received a lot of backlash from many people due to his action. Unsurprisingly, his friend Terry knew what he went through during that moment, and took an empathetic stance.

Terry recalls a similar situation he faced when his wife was pregnant

The former NFL DE recalled a similar moment as Smith when he when to have a celebratory dinner after his acting career successes with his then-pregnant wife. Crews was approached for an autograph, but one of the men spoke disrespectfully to his wife.

The situation escalated into a “violent blur.” Terry was almost arrested for his actions and refrained from ever repeating such actions.

Terry said, “My wife even had to be like, ‘You got to promise me you will never go off like this. You did not need to pick this man up and put him on his head, on the concrete,’”

Since Terry has gone through a similar situation as Well Smith, he refrained from making harsh comments and seemed empathetic towards his friend. However, it will be the ‘Prince of Bel Air’ Will Smith who will face the consequences of the incident, which, at the least, spoiled his reputation among his peers and fans.
