The offseason has been quite eventful thus far. NFL fans have witnessed some anticipated trades and shocking exits. Now, the New York Jets are seemingly diving head-first into setting up a strong offensive lineup in anticipation of Aaron Rodgers’ potential move. Adding a big name to their roster, the franchise acquired a former Chiefs wideout.

Twenty-five-year-old Mecole Hardman is headed to New York. However, he’s left a rather perplexing state of affairs behind him. In the wake of his exit, the WR took to Twitter and engaged with fans over a statement he made. Mentioning some of the biggest names in the league, Hardman painted himself as the underdog. However, his statements were not very well-received by fans.

Last year Hardman played in only eight games during the regular season. Although he returned for the Chiefs’ AFC championship showdown, the aggravation of his injury caused him to leave the game. While the wideout didn’t have much of an impact on the Chiefs’ season, he’ll hope to change that with this move to the Jets.

However, Hardman left the Chiefs Kingdom with an unusual parting message. He said-

His words are quite puzzling. Is the WR undermining his talent? Or, is he expressing his admiration for other big names who played, (and are currently playing) for the Chiefs in comparison to himself? Regardless, Hardman got some validation from one of the names he mentioned. Dolphins’ WR Tyreek Hill reached out to Hardman and said, “You number 1 bro you special.” However, Chiefs Nation did not share Hill’s warmth. Here’s what they had to say concerning Hardman’s tweet.

According to a report from ESPN, Mecole Hardman is headed to the New York Jets on a one-year deal that is reportedly worth up to $6.5 million. The WR will hope that he can be more instrumental in the Jets’ potential success and make his mark in the seasons to come. What do you make of Hardman’s words?
