The NFL offseason is a time for a change. For Baltimore Ravens, change comes with adding star power. The deal is finally official, and the contract is set in stone. Odell Beckham Jr. is officially a Baltimore Raven. The former All-Pro WR marked his return to the league by signing an $18 Million deal this offseason. Recently, he revealed some crucial details related to his contract with his new team.

The Super Bowl Champ missed all of last season owing to injuries. With his troubled injury past, Beckham finds himself in a prime position to make a comeback. But all of that hinges on one man. A single decision could be the ultimate deciding factor for Beckham’s performance this season. Will Lamar Jackson change his mind and sign with the Ravens?

Odell Beckham Jr. gives the inside scoop on Lamar Jackson

Ever since Beckham Jr. signed with the Ravens, the WR has made time to hang out with the franchise’s central figure, Lamar Jackson. The QB and OBJ have been spotted spending time off the field as they perhaps build a partnership going into next season. But with all the uncertainty around Jackson’s contract decision, it seems that even Odell Beckham can’t be sure of the QBs future. As the WR joined the press for his introductory conference, here’s what he had to say.

OBJ started by getting into his possible pairing with Jackson. “I’ve talked to Lamar while he was out there…but the goal was, you know to come here and, and have that possibility to play with him, and I’m excited about that opportunity.”

But perhaps the most important part of his interview came when OBJ revealed the extent of his communication and knowledge of Lamar’s chances of returning to the Ravens.

“I didn’t get any assurances for anything… My thoughts would be that he would be here,” OBJ added.

Beckham Jr.’s reply is certainly quite telling about the continued uncertainty looming around Lamar Jackson’s contract situation.

If Jackson’s out, who’s in?

The only thing in the head of a Ravens fan is the possibility of Lamar Jackson returning. 9 out of 10 Ravens can confirm (not really) that Lamar Jackson is the man of their dreams. With that said, what do the Ravens and their fans do if Lamar sticks to his guts and ends up pushing himself away from the team? Well, here’s the guidebook to being a Ravens fan in that situation.

Fear not, Ravens fans. All is not over if Lamar Jackson decides to walk away. With another Pro Bowl QB in Tyler Huntley on the roster, the team certainly does have a strong backup plan. Though he’s not any Lamar, Huntley has proven to be more than serviceable at QB, almost helping the Ravens pull off an upset against Cincinnati in the wildcard round last season.

The team has also been vocal about their plans to possibly draft another QB in the upcoming draft, especially with the team’s first-round pick. With a heavy room for error even if they don’t land Jackson, the Ravens certainly won’t be mourning his loss in the QB room for the next decade to come by the looks of things.
