The 2023 season for the New York Jets has been full of highs and lows. Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury created uncertainty for the Gang Green. They were met with challenges to script their dominance on the field despite this shortcoming. For a while, the latter grabbed everyone’s attention, thanks to Zach Wilson‘s mastery against the Bills. Alas! The Jets and Dallas Cowboys‘ clash has rattled the hopes.

Even the former punter, Pat McAfee had shown confidence in the quarterback before his ascendancy last week. The reason for his belief emerged from a rather astonishing source- Wilson’s persona at Hard Knocks. However, given this week’s performance, even this support appears to have shaken.

On a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the American sports analyst brought focus to the New York Jets’ Zach Wilson. Highlighting the footballer’s latest role in the team post-Rodgers‘ injury, the professional wrestler recalled the Wilson he had seen on “Hard Knocks.”

Shattering McAfee’s previous opinions of the footballer just “shaking and grooving and talking sh*t,” the 24-year-old QB has displayed a mature side. Even in the latest win of the team against the Bills, Wilson demonstrated his professional side, impressing the 36-year-old.

However, the halt soon met this confidence. As the rollercoaster continued on the field for the Jets, McAfee’s belief surrounded itself with a question mark. Despite commenting about the strong playoff chances, he said, “I do not believe,” referring to the recent run of the Jets against the Cowboys.

Focusing his attention on young Wilson, he said that the American footballer “has received the Baton two years earlier.” But, the 10-30 match just rekindled the previous doubts surrounding the 24-year-old. Being defeated ruthlessly by the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Jets, per McAfee, looked lacking on the field. Once again, the tough situation puts the limelight on Zach Wilson and his enhanced role in the absence of Rodgers.

Does a loss against the Cowboys again put Wilson under scrutiny?

The question about Zach Wilson’s status in the Green Gang has, arguably, dominated the mind of every Jets fan. However, nobody has answered the question with certainty. While the rising star has obvious potential, the disheartening loss of Week 2 might prove to be a minor hiccup.

The team’s HC expressed a determined outlook as he said, “I think there are 52 other guys in the locker room plus the 16 practice squad guys who believe that we can do a hell of a lot of good things here.” With this confidence and Aaron Rodgers’s faith in the young footballer, Wilson is sure to be on a hunt for a powerful comeback in the upcoming clashes.
