Former legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady recently shared an interesting story involving former teammate wide receiver Wes Welker from their 2010 campaign. The 7-time Super Bowl champion recounts how Welker made a hilarious offer of alcohol before their regular-season game in Chicago. The offer was made because of the snowy chill condition before the game even kicked off, and the Jack Daniels whiskey would have helped in keeping warm.

While answering some questions during an Autograph Discord Q&A, Brady recalls the incident and states, “I do remember Wes Welker taking a shot of, I think, Jack Daniel’s before the game too because he was trying to warm up. He’s like, ‘TB, come on get a shot!’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not taking a shot before the game.’

The former Patriots QB believes it was Welker’s old school beliefs that might have factored into his actions. But the night even got funnier for Brady and his Patriots teammates as Welker did enter the field without wearing any sleeves. He finds the hilarious side of the situation and seemed fired up for their game against the Chicago Bears.

Both Brady and Welker’s teammate and then Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski also corroborates the events of the funny encounter. Gronk himself loves Welker and his maniacal side and only had great things to say about his former wideout. Welker and Brady did step up in a big way on the night as the Patriots defeated the Bears with a scoreline of 36-7 and sealed their playoff berth.

It seems Welker and his plan worked on the night as he ended up recording 8 receptions for 115 yards. Brady also had a great game as he ended up recording 369 passing yards with 2 TD passes. It seems that both with their respective pre-game cold-weather routines combined for a dominating victory for the franchise.

Wes Welker would continue to play until the 2015 season and retire the following season. Brady would go ahead and capture at least 4 more Super Bowl titles and establish himself as one of the best QBs to play the game. The story, though funny, provides an insight into how players approach every NFL game with one goal in mind: to win.
