While talking about the hire on ESPN’s First Take show, Smith states, “I don’t give a damn! I’m interested in seeing him play this year, trying to win another Super Bowl. Call me when he’s in the booth.” While his response seems to be addressing Brady’s current commitment with the Buccaneers, it appears he wasn’t interested in talking about the subject.
It is a weak argument from Smith, who appears disgruntled about Brady’s actions. He adds that the QB still has a season to go, and hence, there isn’t any need to talk about it. It is even more questionable following the recent move of NFL analyst Troy Aikman from FOX to ESPN.
The pay disparity between Stephen A Smith and Tom Brady
When Aikman joined ESPN, his hiring was celebrated by everyone on the team together and even promotions were made on their sister channel ABC. It was a perplexing reaction from one of the most famous and entertaining analysts within ESPN.

Another interesting aspect was the differences in the pay between Smith and Brady after his FOX deal. In terms of annual salary, Smith nets around $12 million in total compensation, while Brady will eclipse his figures by earning $37.5 million annually. The gap between both seems to also be something interesting for fans to notice.

While Brady will shift his focus for the upcoming NFL campaign, Smith will be back to discussing the players and putting on a show for the fans. The 2022 NFL campaign will provide the 7-time Super Bowl champion and the longtime analyst with plenty of moments to enthrall NFL fans.
