Stumbling, almost there, not quite there this time. That has been the season in the nutshell for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Needing a win in week 18 to book a place in the playoffs, the Packers came up short against the Detroit Lions. This means an up and down season ends in a heartbreak for Rodgers.

But will he come back next season for another shot at the Super Bowl? And if he does, will he change teams to do that? A disappointed Rodgers refused to rule out saying goodbye to the Packers.

After a disappointing end to the season, Aaron Rodgers refused to rule out gearing up for a new team next year. Speaking at the post-game press conference, Rodgers said he will think about it once the surrounding emotion goes out of the picture.

“Yeah, I don’t know. I mean I don’t like saying never but got to see how I’m feeling first once the emotion is out of it. And then have the right conversations and see what’s the best direction,” Rodgers said on the question.

He has already said that he is undecided on whether he wants to continue playing in the NFL. But it would be difficult for the Packers fans to imagine the back-to-back league MVP to don new colors next season. He is the face of the Packers franchise.

But with the kind of season he’s had and the struggles he has faced, it’s not that difficult to imagine why he would want out. All the struggles were there for everyone to see in the crunch Lions battle.

A disappointing end to the season

The Packers need a win to clinch the NFC playoff berth as a seventh seed. But it was always going to be a difficult outing, as the Lions had a point to prove against Aaron Rodgers. And they proved it in style, although the win didn’t take them to the playoffs either.

Rodgers threw 205 passing yards in the game with one touchdown pass. The Lions defense intercepted one of his 27 pass attempts. And in the end, Jamaal Williams scored a rushing touchdown to lead the Lions to a 20-16 win. But both teams got eliminated from the playoffs after the Seattle Seahawks won their game and sealed their spot.
