Last year was certainly a power trip for Davante Adams. After playing 8 years for the Las Vegas Raiders, he was traded to Green Bay Packers in March 2022. The wide receiver was signed with the biggest deal in NFL history, for a WR, with a whopping $141.25 million in a five-year contract. Numbers speak the truth, and his contract and his last year’s stats definitely prove that he’s one of the most dominant WR in the NFL. But he had an unfortunate outrage last year that has come back to haunt him.

Adams might be in a world of trouble right now. And now that his team and even the Kansas City Chiefs are dragged into the matter, this whole thing could turn sideways for him.

Davante Adams’ 10th season begins with an unsettling start

Even though Adams was honored with his first-time All-Pro at the beginning of this year, he has now been served with a lawsuit. He is being sued by the 20-year-old school videographer, Park Zebley, whom he shoved post-game in December 2022. This incident took place in Arrowhead Stadium, while Davante’s team was facing the Kansas City Chiefs. Adams appeared to be very agitated after the loss and shoved the videographer to the ground when the latter was blocking Adams’ way.

The shove was captured by cameras and later was viewed millions of times on the internet in shared clips. Zebley alleges that he was harassed after the whole incident and was even sent death threats online. He also alleged, “I feared for my life.” in the lawsuit. He then added that he was diagnosed with concussion syndrome after the shoving incident. Zebley is seeking damages in the suit.

The Chiefs, Jackson Sports Complex Authority, and Landmark Events Staffing were named in the suit for alleged negligence. This lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri. The 20-year-old videographer’s lawsuit claims that Adams has committed battery. The Raiders were also named in the suit for being the employer of the main defendant.

What went down?

Last year this incident made huge headlines and Adams later tweeted an apology saying that he was frustrated after the narrowing loss to the Chiefs and he felt really horrible about the whole situation. The tweet was later deleted after Adams was served with one count of misdemeanor assault in a Kansas City municipal court. The case is still pending with his next appearance scheduled on June 26.

Adams expressed his mistakes and regrets after the whole situation. But now that the lawsuit is in progress, it is very difficult to determine how far this situation will escalate. The suit is in its earlier stage and has a lot to progress in the upcoming months. There are no official statements from the defendants yet.
