The NFL community has been anxiously waiting to witness the former New England Patriots’ tight end, Rob Gronkowski, reunite with quarterback Tom Brady at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the onset of the season.
Gronk’s move to the Buccaneers came as a surprise for many fans and NFL pundits. His signing was cemented just weeks after Brady came onboard.
It would indeed be rather exhilarating to see both these players work together, sporting new colors.

Rob Gronkowski heading for a fresh start
Back in 2019, just after the 2018 season had concluded, the 31-year-old announced his retirement after spending nine years with the Patriots. He won three Super Bowl rings along with a monetary package of over $50 million.
However, as 2020 rolled in, he changed his mind and thought of reuniting with his old teammate. Some speculated that this decision was a premeditated one but Gronk refuted all such claims.
Indeed, he wouldn’t have known that he would finally return to football. All he wanted in 2019 is to rest and recover from stress. But what about his momentum? Will he return to the pitch fresher, faster, and more aggressive? Or has pitch rust already set in?
Well, NFL analyst Kyle Brandt thinks the tight end will succeed.

It will work out for Rob Gronkowski
Kyle recently appeared on the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, he said, “I’ve been thinking really hard about a reason that this thing won’t work and that it won’t be fun. I can’t come up with one.
“You try to look at comps. Because it’s so unprecedented. Not just the chemistry with Brady sure, but the year off. And I saw someone on Twitter who I respect, trying to compare him with Le’veon Bell. We’re saying a lot of same things about Le’veon.
“He’s in shape, as long as he is keeping his body right, he should hit the ground running. It didn’t work out for Le’veon. I think Le’veon has a different burden as a running back. He doesn’t play with the same offense as line and quarterback.
“Gronk has this guy. He is in shape in all accounts. He’s thin, he’s light.”

Speaking of Rob growing older, Brandt continued, “There’s also someone calling him old Gronk. Old Gronk is 31 and if you want comps, let’s look at guys at this position with his ability.
“Shannon Sharpe was 35 and still doing it. Tony Gonzalez was 37, way older than Gronk, and still doing it. I can’t come up with a reason why it’s not gonna work. Now double down on this.
“If it does, if this is a 10 out of 10 experience, Gronk is killing it. He is gonna be a 6’6” 260 pounds for anybody else.
How far was Gronkowski’s decision to take a year off suitable for him? Kyle responded, “Old and veteran guys have been injured, have a lot of money. Maybe J.J Watt, Richard Sherman, would have entertained the idea of taking a year off.
“Be it like, wow, work for Gronk, maybe I can rest my body for a year, doing some TV shows, and make some cash. If it works for Gronk, I think gap year would be the next big thing.”

A new challenge for Gronk
Changing teams is often a challenging affair. For instance, the style of game he was accustomed to with the Patriots might not match what the Buccaneers may demand from him. Also, the warmer climate of Florida might be a concern for Gronkowski.

However, he knows what he’s up against and there’s no reason why he wouldn’t be able to cope up with the change.
